“I am that much hotter because my dad is white”
So all my life, I’ve heard this comment numerous times from many people – “Their kids are going to be really cute with a white dad and Asian mom.” Is this true? Are Amerasian kids cuter or more attractive than full Asian kids? Why do so many people, both Non-Asians and Asians, think that?
So I tried to think back and determine if I knew or knew of or seen any half-Asian people who were very attractive. I do remember a few who were very attractive, mostly half-Asian girls. For guys, it’s harder for me to determine or judge but not a whole lot. But my own personal experiences dictate that my results are inconclusive. If that’s the case, how come so many people have said this to me and think it.
Even with celebrities I do not believe this to be true. In fact, if you look at the full Asian celebrities who are popular in Asia, they are much more attractive than the half-Asian celebrities from the U.S. and other parts of the world. I just don’t see it.
Whenever someone says “Half-Asian kids are cuter than full-Asian kids” or “Their kids are going to really cute because the dad is white and the girl is Asian”, it always catches me off guard. I hear this in greater frequency when the interracial couple consist of an attractive white man with an attractive Asian woman. Can equally attractive Asian man and woman not produce attractive offsprings as well?
Also, I’ve heard people say that the reason why half-Asians babies will grow up to be good looking is because they will be taller as if the increased height can be attributed automatically to the white man’s gene. They just assume that half-Asian kids will be more likely to be not as tall compared to half-Asian kids. This really baffles me and I just don’t get it.

I’ve even heard some Asian girls express their interest in marrying a white guy so their kids can be cuter. WTF? Does this imply that the Asian-ness somehow is a handicap or genetically diminished when it comes to breeding and producing offsprings? Geez, what am I some kind of Asian freak? I got 1 word for y’all…John Gossellin of “John & Kate Plus 8″! Barf!
Or, do people just mean that the unique mix of Asian and white make a person more attractive because of the brownish hair, brown eyes, etc? Hey, I’ve seen very pretty half-Asian girls and I’ve seen some f’ed up looking half-Asian girls as well so this generalization is beyond my comprehension. What do you think? Have you ever heard people make such generalizations of half-Asian kids and adults?

Interesting because in my experience, americans here consider Indians as Asians and I (I’m Asian) always thought Asians and Indians were different enough to make that distinction. but of course, typical white america clump all of us into one group.
I think it’s a mix – some Asian girls who are with white, they are because of self-hate – they are ashamed of their Asian features, their yellow skin, the way they look, etc. They are ‘white-washed’ and want to be more “white”. And…they want their offsprings to be as white as possible. They prefer the Western look/features. But I think there are other Asian women who are NOT self-hate but more that they just ended up falling in love with a white guy. And others did so for other reasons – thing is..there are so many different reasons in why they prefer white guys over Asian guys. And the list gets longer and longer as I hear more and more Asian women speak. The last one that i heard was “I would NEVER date Asian guy because they remind me of my brother….eww…gross!” Can you believe that?

An Asian chick that looks like her or similar, I would date in a heartbeat. Generally people who look similar/have similar facial characteristics are attracted to one another. Notice that I have similar facial characteristics to that chick, which is why I like Asian girls that look similar to her.

That’s not to say that there are girls who look completely different from me that I am attracted to (like white chicks), but that is because of upbringing -> I grew up in 90% white areas. So you can’t say “have a lot of Asian pride” when my culture isn’t even really Asian, I’m not really Asian upbringing-wise, etc.
Maybe I should have clarified. I said those combinations of features would be what makes an Asian chick unattractive IN MY OPINION. That’s my personal taste/aesthetic taste. I believe that if an Asian has small eyes they look better with a more oval face, taller nose bridge, sharper/pointier nose, etc. Basically their features match -> sharp or chiseled with sharp or chiseled. On the other hand, a rounder face with a flatter or wider nose can look very good with larger eyes. I just don’t think a round face with a flat/wide nose matched with small eyes looks good. Anyways that’s just my opinion. Is it wrong to like certain facial features/sets over others? I’m sure there are people out there who think I am extremely ugly and I am sure there are Asian chicks who think I am extremely ugly. They are welcome to think that.
I don’t worship white women because if a white woman also had mismatching features, she would not look very attractive either (in my opinion). Some examples include having a very very prominent, hooked nose or eyes that are huge or a face that is quite broad and chubby or simply the facial features being out of proportion like having a very small chin but a more prominent forehead or eyes that are too wide on the face or eyes that are too close to each other on the face. Have you never read the golden ratio of beauty theory? I didn’t really believe it at first, but when I looked at it, no matter what race, if the facial features fit that mask, the person looks at least semi-attractive (in my opinion).

Now interpretation of this “mask” will vary from person to person because everyone sees the world differently and have different tastes, but generally peoples whose facial proportions fits close to the mask are seen as more “attractive.” Doesn’t matter if they are black, white, hispanic, Amerindian, Asian, Pacific Islander, aboriginal, middle eastern, siberian, etc. Why do you think most actors considered good looking have faces that fit close to this mask, same with news reporters (even in Asia), etc.? You could say that this is western/white media brainwashing but I don’t think so because many whites/non-Asians do not have faces that fit into that mask. And I certainly do not think all whites are good looking. I’ve seen my share of a lot of below average white/latina chicks.
Now I’m not saying that this is the end all be all, as beauty/attraction is obviously subjective, but would you really tell an obese or bucktoothed/dis-proportioned-faced person that they are stunning? Of course not. That doesn’t mean you go around telling them they are ugly to their face, as that is mean, but in terms of dating/mating, it is obviously very important. Genes, looks/appearance, talents, height, etc. are all very important. People usually only want the best or something better. It’s natural selection to want a mate with characteristics YOU think are “better.” That might be why shorter dudes like me get shafted> being short is considered ugly/bad by most people. So guess what, at 5’6″ that’s just too bad for me isn’t it? But that’s life. It ain’t fair.
And the obese chicks who tell themselves they are beautiful everyday and do not seek to lose weight/improve themselves are deluding themselves. Just like how there will always be ugly people, beautiful people, and everyone inbetween, through a method of judging that can be agreed on my most people. That’s the way the world is. No amount of political correctness can change that.

Let me tell you what racism is, as demonstrated by the kind white people of the UK when faced with non-white people from other countries. Then there are countless TV soap operas where the Asian male always turns out to be gay! And can you also explain why Hollywood movies always have an Asian female with a White male as her love interest? While the Asian male is weak, comical and gay? Name one Hollywood film with an Asian male/White female relationship, where the male is actually intimate with the female!
All of the evidence is right in front of you, no one here is trying to fashion something out of nothing, no one here is making things up, exaggerating, or being economical with the truth! And least of all, no one here is being racist!

I agree with you about everything you say about racism.
I just wanted to say, as a young asian man teaching at a PAC 10 college. I see my asian sister (highest suicide rate) and depress asian brothers on campus. It is cause by the need to fit into a white society.
I am very concern with the trend. I believe it is due to self hate. Our asian sister and brothers are force into a white society. Not by choice. When they fail to find success and happiness in a white society. They get angry and frustrated, which leads to depression, and depression leads to suicide. I know all of you have thoughts of suicide. I also had it in undergrad. But I did not know why.
I sense a lot of anger, especially among young asian men on campus. As a young professor, I urge my Asian brothers, to not allow the anger to lead to depression. It is not your fault that you are force into a white society. Where there are lack of strong asian role models, to help them become leaders.
It is very hard for a young Asian man to find role models, in order to compete at a high level.
I am currently writing my thesis on Asian American and leadership in America.

At my school, I mentor 10 young asian men and women. I am not much older than them. But I am light house in a middle of storm. Someone for them to look up to and remind them how awesome they are.

Hey, I just re-read your other post on the “Asian guys who are so damn picky” thread and you kind of repeated it here. But I agree. The lack of positive Asian MALE role models is a giant issue with Asian Americans. I myself grew up without a father/my father was/is kind of a loser/one-dimensional kind of person, so I have always lacked a proper father figure. That may be why I feel the need to be hypermasculine (lifting weights religiously, practicing martial arts, etc.) Then again it could also be that that has always been my personality.
But you are definitely correct about certain points in relation to some of the “self-hate” I have, though it is more complicated than you may think. Anyways the short version of it is that I do self-hate because of certain physical/health related attributes that I correlate with being Asian but on the other hand, I am extremely proud of the Asian martial arts history and would not hesitate to send anyone who dares insult Asian martial arts to the hospital, screw the consequences. I hold Asian warriors/martial artists of the past and present in the highest regard, so don’t think of me as a completely white-washed/brainwashed person. However, I do agree that I definitely lack an older Asian brother-mentor who can help me with the issues I have to deal with. I kind of do wish I had someone like you to look up to/talk to when I was at my old university. I will definitely be smarter this time when I go to WSU and seek out a mentor who understands what it is like to be an Asian dude. It will be hard though, as I do not believe there are many Asian male faculty members who also share the same passions as I do.

Has anyone noticed the phenomenon that female Hapas end up with white guys? I notice this all the same. Half-asian, half-white, dates white guy, ignores all Asian guys. Just look in the media. All the Hapas end up with white guys. Moon Bloodgood comes to mind. Conversely, have you ever seen a Hapa with an Asian? Answer: no.

Excellent remark, I almost die laughing. I agree with you. The first list is composed of “nerd movies”. The second list (your list) is composed of “serious blockbusters”. No comparison between the two.
Do you really think Hollywood will put Asian Males in the second list category? It will be shooting itself in the foot. The media is used to control a power hierarchy and wants to maintain that hierarchy.

It’s about sample size. Only Chinese morons in the US, AUS, Canada etc complain about Asian women having round heads and flat faces. Go to Korea or Japan or even mainland China and find men making generalizations about how Asian women are not attractive.
Generally speaking you typically only hear Chinese girls especially in Singapore, Hong Kong or other colonized places talk about wanting to marry a white guy and have mixed babies. In Korea, Japan, Taiwan etc mixed marriages are simply cases of people falling in love with each other.
If you want to see what a society full of mixed race people looks like go to the Philippines or Thailand. You see mixed East Asian, white, Austronesian, Indian ethnicity. Pretty much 100% is mixed something. Anyone who feels the urge to make generalizations about how mixed people are more attractive, take a look at the average Filipino. I’m not insulting Filipinos but I don’t think even Filipinos would claim they’re the most beautiful people in the world. Many of their biggest stars are pureblood Koreans.

Can I just ask you why you think white features are more beautiful, and why you would prefer to be white?
If all Hollywood actors, musicians, models were Asian, if the world language was Chinese/Japanese/Korean, if Asian’s had invaded and conquered Europe, would that make a difference? I am not saying once race is better than the other, my own personal view is that people of all races can be attractive in their own way, the one group putting whiteness and white features at the top of the pile are white people! Also it is the Asian women who is in demand and in fashion, but my guess is that what you are feeling is just the first step of the program, self loathing and hatred of who you are, moving onto fascination and coveting of a white mate.
Just remember that even if you can change your outside appearance, you can’t change who you are inside that shell of a body. We are who we are, our unhappiness comes from allowing the media to convince us that we should be somebody else.
I do think all races can be attractive in their own way. I just like white feature more than other races. I really like white people face! I do noticed the only time I find other races attractive is because they have westernize feature.
I do think media does play the role, all you see is mostly white white white. Take a look at Victoria Secret, you barely see Asian girl in it. It all about white, Latina, and even black women are in it. Now thinking about makes me think Asians are overall the least attractive race.

There was a really good movie produced by Hollywood many years ago (Hollywood produces one gem every decade!). It was Blade Runner.
Actor Deckhard (played by Harrison Ford) and heroine Rachel (Sean Young) were interacting in a scene where the heroine was convincing him she was a human and that she still had vivid memories of her childhood. But Deckhard already knew she wasn’t human and was telling her that those memories were only implants.
In the same way, I think that human beings are highly programmable computers. What is lacking among Asians is individuality, and this makes Asians even more easily “programmable”!

I am half Asian, half white.
I’ve seen a lot of half Asians in my day and I’ve gotten pretty good at recognizing them, but they are a hard bunch to spot. I’ve found that most of the time they look more white than Asian and if they look like they might be Asian, even a little, they probably are. Most of the time I’ll think they’re pretty attractive, but there’s all kinds of people out there.
Half Asian or any mixed race girl may look attractive but in Atlanta, GA where I come from, people, especially Whites, think they’re whores, freak shows, or something
I all races have good looking and ugly people, but personally i do think half white and asian kids are normally the best looking.. out of any combination… I think white peoples skin is too white and their features are to big and prominent.. and i think chinese have great skin tone and nice subtle features easier on the eye.. but with asians why its good to mix, is imply because asians ALL have black hair and brown eyes.. if you mix you often get brown hair and a nice tanned skin tone, with nice features that are too big like caucasians…
overall I think asian guy and white women make the best looking babies…. asian women and white guys have cute babies too, as long as they dont look too white and take slightly more from the asian.. which is why i say asian guy white girl..
I totally disagree, and totally agree with some of the things said.. the MEDIA potrays white people as the best looking supremem race, followed by black, then chinese asians types, and last the indian brothers… depends if you are brainwashed, alot of asians are brainwashed aswell and get surgery to look white, like eyelid surgery because the magazines and TV they see from america are full of white people…… buttttt….

most asian girls dont even where make up they are naturally beautiful.. again i think its too do with the oversized features such as the nose… AND EYES.. yes some asians have really small eyes, but most are normal sized, right porportion. some caucasians have normal sized eyes too, but some eyes are friggin huge…
